Ad-land Video Production Company

Production planning

Planning your corporate video production is based on tasks ahead and the timing assigned to them. This is where a professional video producer will be able to help you.

I like to start with the script; this is the most important piece of paper in the whole process. It tells the story and dictates the production. Writing a script can take up to 2 weeks. The main elements are the research and approval. It depends on the priority that is given in the company to the production. The good news is that the production can go ahead once the draft script is approved. The top guys do not change too much to scripts, mostly semantics. Once the marketer is happy you know you are 90% plus there.

The second step are to determine the shooting schedule, here you make the arrangements with the persons in charge of the facilities you need to film. This is where you need a flexible production company. We have arrived at locations where nothing was prepared for the shoot. Then you have no alternative but to schedule for a later date. The only problem is that there are always costs involved with cancelled days. Make sure that every site is prepared and ready.

While shooting is underway, you can finalise the script and get the necessary sign off. You most probably will need a voice over and that can be fitted in between the shooting schedule. Once your shooting is finished and you are ready for the next step.

Editing is the fun part of any corporate video production. This is where you can really get creative and build your puzzle. Editing can take anything from 2 days to 3 weeks, depending on the complexity of the video. Once again, the approval process is the main problem. Make sure the production schedule make provision for approval and organise it early on. With big companies we organise two sessions as there are always comments that need editing during the first session.

The final step is the DVD duplication and depending on the quantities it can take up to another week before you are ready for distribution.
