Getting quotations for a Corporate Video

Getting a quotation for your corporate video production is most probably the easiest step of the video production process.

When you a South African search for corporate video on a search engine like Google or Bing you will find video production houses that can produce your video.

Now you need to look carefully at the design of the websites – it is the advertising window of the business, choose as many as you are prepared to see for a quotation brief. Most production houses will request a meeting as it is the only way to get a clear idea of your needs.

As a video producer, I do not like to attend group briefings; you have to sit and look at your competition and cannot give any ideas on the approach to the project. I would recommend that you choose 2 – 3 companies and brief them individually. You will get much more valuable input from them.

I like it when companies disclose their budget range.  This streamlines the process tremendously. When you get the briefing every one translate it to money. It does not help if you get quotations for R 150 000-00 and your budget is R 50 000-00. Disclose the budget, you might find that you can get reasonable production for your money. You might not get all the bells and whistles, but maybe you not need it.

Video quotations always have a bit of guesswork in them, but the elements you need to control are:

  • Duration – Do not exceed the duration in the 5 minute ranges, it will cost you more.
  • Additional shooting days
  • Music – There are wonderful royalty free library music available.

Once you have chosen your preferred video producer and have find someone whose work you like, you can be assured of a smooth production.
